-同社初の中判デジタル一眼レフ「PENTAX 645D」を正式発表。
-アウトドアでの撮影を重視したフィールドカメラとして開発。防塵防滴構造を採用。
-撮像素子に44×33mmの4,000万画素のコダック製CCDを搭載。
-解像度重視のため、ローパスフィルターレス設計に。
-画像処理エンジン「PRIME II」を採用。14bit処理。
-感度はISO200〜1000。拡張設定によりISO100、1600に設定可能。
-連写速度は秒1.1コマ。RAW時約13コマ、JPEG時約15コマの連続撮影が可能。
-データ記録はSDカードのデュアルスロットを採用。SDXCカード未対応。
-レンズシステムは、従来からのsmc PENTAX645用交換レンズを採用。
-デジタル対応レンズとして「smc PENTAX-D FA645」シリーズを開発。第一弾として「smc PENTAX-D FA645 55mm F2.8AL[IF] SDM AW」を同時発売。
-AFは新開発の11点測距センサーを搭載。
-光学ファインダーはガラス製のトラピゾイド（台形）プリズムを採用。視野率約98%。
-背面ディスプレイは3.0型92.1万画素液晶を採用。ライブビュー不可。
-シャッターは縦走りのメタルフォーカルプレーン。シャッター速度は1/4,000〜30秒。
-マグネシウム合金製ボディーを採用。
-超音波振動による撮像素子クリーニング機能搭載。ダストアラート機能採用。
-電源は充電式リチウムイオン電池。撮影可能枚数は約800枚。
-大きさは約156×117×119mm。重さ約1,480g。
-オープンプライス。実売80万円台半ば。5月中旬発売。
